SARAH MILLS, Founder
Sarah founded SoMoved in 2010 to further the conversation and action around nutrition, fitness, performance and healthy lifestyles. As a long time fitness professional, Sarah is a Certified Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition, and holds a CrossFit Nutrition certificate. She has a distinct passion for helping others set and achieve their nutrition and fitness goals. Since 1998, she has trained professional, elite, and everyday athletes to make performance and personal health and fitness gains. Her combined fitness coaching and experience as a career communications professional led her to creating and providing creative Nutrition Programs for fitness facilities, organizations, and individuals.
Sarah's early coaching was for both gym-goers and endurance athletes, and she has coached CrossFit since 2009. She is an active Certified CrossFit Level 4 Coach (CFL-4) and a Flowmaster for the CrossFit HQ Seminar Staff, traveling worldwide leading their CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 Certificate Courses. She is owner of First Place CrossFit, coaches cycling at Worldgate Athletic Club, was a competitive collegiate athlete (NCAA Division 1 tennis), road cyclist, marathoner, and volleyball player. Sarah's own nutrition, health, and fitness journey, and family history with health challenges has translated to her providing a motivating, empathetic, and effective client experience.

Sarah has a Masters in Business Administration, a BA in Political Science, and Certifications in Nutrition, CrossFit, and a host of specialty fitness training qualifications.
SAM WOODHEAD
Sam is a SoMoved Nutrition Coach, a Certified Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition, a Certified CrossFit Level 3 Trainer (CFL3/CCFT), Army ACFT NCOIC (Army Combat Fitness Non-commissioned Officer in Charge), Army Unit Fitness Trainer.
Growing up in Maine and studying classical music at some of the finest conservatories in the country, physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle were not part of Sam's daily routine (countless hours practicing, and too much junk food). That all changed when he won a position with the premiere band in the U.S. Army and found himself in dire need of losing weight, and to pass basic training. He found that he enjoyed training, but with the demands of a busy performing career, finishing a degree, and a young family, the pounds started to come back. Knowing that he needed to make a change, he tried CrossFit in 2012 and found a training methodology that captivated him. His real transformation came when he worked with SoMoved Nutrition in 2016 and he saw a dramatic change in body composition and athletic performance. Now after almost 20 years in the Army, he's in the best shape of his life. What Sam is most proud of though, is that his transformation helped his mom lose weight and start living a healthy lifestyle by also working with SoMoved Nutrition.
Sam attended the Manhattan School of Music, holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Southern Maine, a Masters degree from Yale University, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland. He is in demand as a guest artist and clinician, and is often asked to speak on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle as a professional or aspiring musician.
MELODY FELDMAN
Melody Feldman is a SoMoved Nutrition Coach, and the owner and co-founder of CrossFit MPH, a 15-year CrossFit affiliate in Washington, DC. She is a Precision Nutrition Certified Nutrition Coach (PNL1), holds a CrossFit Nutrition certificate, and has coached nutrition clients since 2017. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from The George Washington University and is a Certifiied CrossFit Level 4 Coach (CF-L4). She has worked as a CrossFit Seminar Staff trainer since 2013, and has taught Level 1 and Level 2 courses in over 15 countries! Prior to CrossFit, she competed for 10 years in Olympic-style Taekwondo, medalling internationally in the junior, collegiate and senior divisions. She was also competitive at the regional level in CrossFit.
As a lifelong coach, she has worked with thousands of people to improve their health, fitness, and nutrition. She draws from two decades of experience in the fitness industry when coaching nutrition clients, and focuses on long-term, sustainable behavioral change that matches an individual client’s goals and lifestyle. She aims to educate her clients and help them build solid nutritional habits that they can use for the rest of their lives. To do this, she takes a holistic approach to each client, supporting them each step of the way.
When she is not at work, Melody loves to perform karaoke (she’s been in a competitive karaoke league for over a decade!), pull out her acrylic paints, or travel the world with her husband.
JAALA SHAW
Jaala is a SoMoved Nutrition Coach, a Certified CrossFit Level 3 Trainer (CFL3, CCFT) and part of CrossFit, Inc.'s HQ Seminar Staff, and a Precision Nutrition L1 Coach (PNL1). Jaala has been coaching various sports all over the world for the past two decades. Jaala has varied coaching experience across many sports. Starting her career as an assistant swim coach at the University of New Mexico, then coaching club swimming in California and at the Sichuan Institute of Sport in China, and eventually owning a CrossFit Affiliate where she coached a mix of competitive CrossFit athletes, weightlifters, and endurance athlete. Jaala integrated nutrition coaching into her practice, becoming a Precision Nutrition Level 1 coach in 2020. She is also the director of GORUCK's Tribe Kids program. In addition to her coaching experience, Jaala is a competitive endurance athlete, teacher, teacher trainer, and writer. She has taught and lived in Afghanistan, Jordan, Palestine, Israel, China, and Micronesia, and loves writing about her life experiences.
DENIESE DEGGES
Deniese supports SoMoved's brand and products, is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, and is pursuing her Precision Nutrition L1 (PNL1). She discovered her passion for CrossFit during the pandemic and quickly transitioned from participant to coach, inspired by her own coach’s encouragement. Through CrossFit, she met SoMoved founder Sarah Mills and became a dedicated client of SoMoved Nutrition's programs, which profoundly impacted her approach to health and wellness.
Deniese thrives on engaging with people and sharing her enthusiasm for food, nutrition, and fitness. Her journey led her to join the SoMoved team, where she now provides services to help build the brand that has so much potential.
Balancing multiple roles, Deniese works full-time in HR, coaches part-time, and manages a farmers market. She and her husband enjoy giving plenty of love and attention to their two dogs, Serendipity and Quintessence. Deniese’s active and social lifestyle fuels her mission to inspire herself and others to be the best versions of themselves, embracing the motto, “Why Not!?”
RACHEL PETERSON
Rachel has been a SoMoved Nutrition Coach, Certified Nutrition Coach (PNL1), a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, and contributes to the the SoMoved Nutrition Test Kitchen, prepping healthy recipe options for our clients and followers to find on our "FOOD FOR THOUGHT" blog. Rachel has a passion and love for food, entertaining, and travel. She has been a client with SoMoved since August 2017 and has made significant changes in her body composition, fitness performance, and overall health. Check out her story...

Rachel grew up in Egypt (is Egyptian-American) and moved to the U.S. in 2006 to attend the University in Texas. She played soccer from age 5 through high-school, and even dabbled in water polo and softball. After struggling with her weight for years since moving to the United States, Rachel walked into her first CrossFit class in March 2016 and quickly became passionate about the challenge of the workouts, camaraderie, and community that the box provides. As the social person that she is, she dove right into managing social media and events at CrossFit Fairfax and supports SoMoved's social media, as well!
